Covergirl Cosmetics has just gotten a new face. The beauty products line will be represented by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who will become the new Covergirl in advertisements debuting January 2011.

Vince Hudson, general manager of Covergirl, describes Swift as a “wonderful addition to the Covergirl family” with “fresh beauty and authentic style.”

“Through all her success, Taylor remains a grounded and sincere woman who connects with fans everywhere just by being true to who she is,” Hudson says. “She personifies the iconic image of the brand while representing the next generation of both inner and outer beauty.”

Swift said she was very excited about being picked to be the new Covergirl rep. “I have admired many of the Covergirls since I was a little girl… great artists and actresses who are confident and still themselves,” she says. “It’s like a dream come true to be a part of the future of Covergirl.”

The 20-year-old follows in the footsteps of previous Covergirls Christie Brinkley, Cheryl Tiegs, Rachel Hunter, Tyra Banks, Niki Taylor and Molly Sims. More recently, Covergirl has been represented by spokeswomen such as Queen Latifah, Ellen DeGeneres, Rihanna and Drew Barrymore.
